M. TEZANOS PEREZ – Spruce and CSA – 1996

$6,000.00

Description

1996, Spain.  Solid spruce soundboard, beautifully quartersawn CSA rosewood back and sides, 650 mm scale, 51 mm nut width, ebony neck reinforcement, lacquer finish, Fusteros tuners.  Extremely well cared for with just a couple of stray fingernail marks, and slight finish checking as is appropriate for a guitar of this vintage.  The neck is straight and true as is the soundboard, on a guitar built to last.  Lovely clear tone with excellent projection.  Mariano Tezanos and Teodoro Perez formed a partnership at Vicente Camarón 14, Madrid, in 1992.  They were known for the high quality of their instruments in materials, workmanship and sound.  Now, take a seat for the interesting part.  This guitar was sold to the sole owner in January, 1996 by Guitar Salon International, with the label printed “Miguel Cordoba” and signed “Miguel Cordoba”.  See the photo included in this post.  Later, in June, the owner received a letter from GSI with a new label, M. Tezanos Pérez, indicating that Tezanos Perez were the actual maker.  See photo for the letter (the signature on the letter is indiscernable to me) and new label, (the new label was intentionally placed over the owner’s name and address for privacy).  Both labels have the Vicente Camarón 14 address.  Finally, there are two signatures on the underside of the soundboard and a photo was obtained with a phone placed in the soundhole (see photo).  The name Tezanos is clear, and the other is illegible.  Comments from anyone who knows anything about this arrangement are welcome.  At any rate, the M. Tezanos Perez partnership appears to be the builder.
